Public research progress

Historical Source Recovery

This public worklist tracks the recovery of historical asbestos trust documents that could confirm, update, or qualify existing historical figures. It shows research progress—not new trust facts. Figures remain unchanged until a controlling source and the documented editorial and technical checks are complete.

Current pilot

Ends Oct 5, 2026

Five ranked historical items are prepared for the monthly no-charge research cycle, capped at 150 minutes.

Evidence stays bounded

A research target never converts an historical floor, a qualified secondary component, or an access constraint into a current figure.

Public, no-charge routes first

Official trust, administrator, case-agent, court, government, archive, and public docket routes are prioritized. This worklist does not authorize paid-record purchases.

Access is not substance

A reachable page is not a recovered report, and an unavailable page is not proof of no change. Both states remain visible in the research record.

Recovery status

8 ranked historical source targets. The dashboard updates from the reviewed public registry; it does not publish unreviewed findings.

Per-item recovery worklist

Showing 8 of 8 ranked targets.

  1. Priority 1 · 35-minute research cap

Pittsburgh Corning Corporation Asbestos PI Trust

    Source reachable

    Recovery objective

Recover a filed annual report or court account that supports or corrects the qualified 2022 secondary cumulative-payment component.

    Evidence boundary

2022 secondary component; filed document remains unavailable

    Why it matters

Highest payout-tier impact; a filed record could upgrade, correct, or remove a material secondary component.

    Approved no-charge path

Check the official trust site and document library; CourtListener/RECAP docket and community-request status; public bankruptcy-docket repositories; Internet Archive captures. Record inaccessible documents rather than purchasing them.

  2. Priority 2 · 35-minute research cap

    Celotex Asbestos Settlement Trust

    Source reachable

    Recovery objective

Locate a public primary report after the filed 2006 PI-pool figure and reconcile the qualified post-2006 secondary-growth component.

    Evidence boundary

Filed PI-pool figure through 2006; qualified secondary growth through 2021

    Why it matters

High; a newer primary report would materially improve the age and confidence of the trust’s payout history.

    Approved no-charge path

Check the official trust site and administrator materials; CourtListener/RECAP; public bankruptcy-docket mirrors; Internet Archive; and free court-record indexes. Do not attempt a paid PACER pull.

  3. Priority 3 · 30-minute research cap

    Owens Corning/Fibreboard Asbestos PI Trust

    Registered / awaiting check

    Recovery objective

Find a public filed report that advances the 2009 filed cumulative-payment floor or independently verifies the qualified post-2009 secondary-growth component.

    Evidence boundary

Filed cumulative figure through 2009; qualified secondary growth through 2022

    Why it matters

High; two subaccounts and a large historical payment base make a primary update especially useful for accuracy and presentation.

    Approved no-charge path

Search the official administrator resource pages and trust notices; CourtListener/RECAP and public docket attachments; Internet Archive; and direct public annual-report libraries. Preserve separate OC and FB payment-rate treatment.

  4. Priority 4 · 25-minute research cap

Armstrong World Industries Asbestos PI Trust

    Source reachable

    Recovery objective

Locate a newer publicly accessible annual report or claim account after the filed FY2014 historical cumulative-payment figure.

    Evidence boundary

    Filed cumulative figure through 2014

    Why it matters

High; a 2014 floor is materially stale and a public later filing would improve payout chronology.

    Approved no-charge path

Search official administrator notices and public document libraries, CourtListener/RECAP, no-charge docket mirrors, and archive captures. Record court-side access limitations without inferring a current value.

  5. Priority 5 · 25-minute research cap

United States Gypsum (USG) Asbestos Trust

    Registered / awaiting check

    Recovery objective

Recover a public filed cumulative-payment report after the 2008 historical figure and reconcile it with current payment-percentage notices.

    Evidence boundary

    Filed cumulative figure through 2008

    Why it matters

High; this is the oldest filed floor in the current top-five worklist and should not be implied to be current.

    Approved no-charge path

Search the official trust site, payment notices, CourtListener/RECAP, public docket indexes, and archive snapshots. Treat payment-rate notices as rate evidence only, not as evidence of cumulative payouts.

  6. Priority 6 · 40-minute research cap

DII Industries, LLC Asbestos PI Trust

    Source reachable

    Recovery objective

Seek the missing FY2005–FY2013 annual-report sequence needed to convert the documented FY2014–FY2025 subtotal into an inception-to-date series.

    Evidence boundary

Documented per-year subtotal FY2014–FY2025; early years unresolved

    Why it matters

    Medium-high; a complete no-charge series would add a meaningful bottom-up historical component.

    Approved no-charge path

Review the official report archive, public docket indexes and attachments, Internet Archive snapshots, and free court repositories. Do not sum incomplete years into an inception-to-date field.

  7. Priority 7 · 30-minute research cap

G-I Holdings Inc. Asbestos Personal Injury Settlement Trust

    Registered / awaiting check

    Recovery objective

Locate the filed document underlying the qualified 2022 cumulative-payment component.

    Evidence boundary

    Qualified secondary-citing-filed component through 2022

    Why it matters

Medium; upgrading or revising a discrete qualified component improves the bottom-up method’s transparency.

    Approved no-charge path

Search official trust or administrator resources, CourtListener/RECAP, public docket repositories, and archive captures. Maintain the secondary label unless the underlying filing is obtained.

  8. Priority 8 · 25-minute research cap

Maremont Corporation Asbestos Disease Compensation Trust

    Source reachable

    Recovery objective

Determine whether free annual reports before FY2025 support a complete, clearly scoped bottom-up payment series.

    Evidence boundary

FY2025 reports per-year payments and inception-to-date claim counts, not cumulative dollars

    Why it matters

Medium; a complete series is useful only if enough free years can be documented without mixing claim counts and payments.

    Approved no-charge path

Review the official report archive and no-charge court/administrator repositories. Stop if the archive cannot establish a complete, reproducible time series within the monthly cap.

How to read this page

The recovery list makes unresolved historical evidence visible. It does not imply that a document exists, that a payment amount is current, or that an unavailable source establishes no change. When a controlling report is recovered, it is reviewed against the public methodology, historical-floor labels, and source hierarchy before a tracker or article update is considered.
